the version of my NWDS is:
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.3 SP03 PAT0000 the update file downloaded is:
updatesite-management-tool-7.3-SP03-PAT0000-win32
whereas after the file updatesite-management-tool-7.3-SP03-PAT0000-win32.rar has been extracted, nothing happended when the executable file updatesite_tool had been triggered.
please find the message displayed in the console in the attached file.
so my question is:
how can i use this update file to update my NWDS to 7.31 version?
the java installed on my pc is:

Hi all,
I'm using NWDI, version is 7.14.
When I try to create a new DC the vendor dropdown is disabled and all I see is sap.com (see snapshot - http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newprojectjq3.jpg).
I have opened several projects in the past with no problem (and I could choose my own vendor, the one I created in the SLD).
How can I solve this?

Hi All,
I have a portal & webdynpro application in the form of a single .sca file.
I unzipped the file using winzip and got two files - .ear and .epa.
I want to import this in NWDS to view the code and make some changes in webdynpro.
Can anybody give me the step by step procedure to do this?

I assume the J2EE_ADMIN user is used when establishing a connection between NWDS and the application server?
When I use the remote GUI from SDM on the server I can see the http server configuration on port 50019 is not running. Can this be the reason?

I am trying to patch a SAP NW CE 7.2 system from SP1 to SP8.I had issues for 2 software components while trying to patch using the standard patching tool JSPM.
So I thought of patching just those 2 components using another tool - SUM- Software Update Manager.
In this tool it gives me an error - Cannot detect NWDI system role. Could not get NWDI system role from CVERS. com.sap.sl.util.cvers.api.CVersAccessException: CMSRTS, getModifiedComponents: unknown DB schema, can not write data com.sap.sl.util.cvers.api.CVersAccessException: CMSRTS, getModifiedComponents: unknown DB schema, can not write data
On the JSPM screen it says "System is not under NWDI control" which is correct.The guy who had installed this system has also included the usage type DI which was not needed in the first place.No initial configuration NWDI have been ever performed on this system and still while JSPM is not complaining on the NWDI role,SUM is complaining. Do I have to do some initial setup wrt NWDI component so that SUM will pick the right NWDI role.

Hello all,
As suggested here (Set up CM Services in CE 7.2) I've managed to setup the CM Services in NW CE 7.30 (I'm NOT using CTS, so stand-alone dev. config)
Problem is, after importing this in the NWDS (works), and when trying to create new DC's, the namespace is set default to sap.com and cannot be changed. Then I get an error that I cannot create projects in the sap.com - domain. So I cannot create new DC projects.
I've created my own product in the SLD in my company's namespace, so the SC where I'm trying to create the DC's in is NOT in sap.com namespace, but my company's namespace.
Did anyone else have this problem and know a solution?
Did I do the setup wrong or is there something wrong with the NWDS?
Remark: I am able to create DC's in my LocalDevelopment (and set my namespace freely here)

We are trying to configure NWDI in portal 7.3 using the following document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-14706 however when Im trying the syncrhonize step (page 22) it shows me an error HTTP 400 Unknown session wherever I click in the sync page.
I dont know if it's because of this missing step but when I import this in NWDS the dependencies are empty and when I try to create a develpment it shows me greyed components with the mistake ( Software component does not support this development component type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected one.). If any more information needed please ask me.

I want to deploy web application which is developped using JAVA web technology into SAP netweaver Engine.
I tried to deploy .war file through SDM but it complained the following error

We need to manage the code WD Java application that we are developing using DTR.
To show what we need, I'm going to create an example:
- There is a WD Java application with version "v1.0" in Production system
- There is a version "v2.0" of that application in the Development and Integration systems
- Suddenly a modification must be done urgently about the same application and the client wants to transport this modification to Production before than transport version "v2.0".
- Therefore, we need to move to development version 1 ("v1.0") which is currently in production. To do that, we can get on DTR that version using "Sync to Date" selecting the date that the DTR had that version ("v1.0")
- We already have that version but we can not change it because we can only modify the latest version ("v2.0").
Could we assign the "v1.0" as the last version in the DTR in order to modify it?

I am new to NWDI. Currently we have to move some tracks from old NWDI [for 7.0 portal] to a new one [for 7.3]. It was agreed upon to follow the procedure as per the link "http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/49/101b273d9d132ee10000000a421937/frameset.htm" as all data and history has to be maintained. As per method desribed here ".. >> Choose the Change Management Service link. >> Choose the Landscape Configurator link and change the DTR URL in the track configuration of TRACK1 from SRCDTR to TGTDTR. >>To create a copy of TRACK1, choose Save As. Name the track TRK1CPY .." This "Save As" operation is throwing error as it cannot access the target DTR. Since we are performing the steps in old NWDI CMS, it should be able to access the new NWDI DTR [with separate CMS, SLD, CBS, DTR]. But cannot figure how to do it. Do we have to maintain same CMS Admin user id and paasowrd in the new NWDI as the old one??

I am facing a problem in NWDI while creating a Dc project from the Track.As part of Support pack upgrade, I have done some conflict resolution to the existing Dc.I found that the .dcdef file also shows conflict.I have manually check out the .dcdef file and created an activity. But by mistake , I have deleted the .dcdef file and done the check in and activate it.
Now when i try to sync and re-create the project i am getting the below error "
Error when reading component definition from repository:
Could not get component definition file from remote server. Not found
" and i am not able to create the Dc's again in my workspace.
When i go to the CBS UI link , I cannot see the respective Dc's under the SoftwareComponents under inactive section.
Can you please help me on this.How can i bring back the Dc's under the inactive section for the Sc.So that i can again create a project and do my developments.

Our NWDI is on 7.3 with all track having 7.01 BI Java systems. I am not able to zero in the source system causing the lockouts. Would it be the NWDI system itself, the runtime systems or the SLD??

I am facing a problem in NWDI. We have SAP E-Commerce 5 package for which there was a recent SP upgrade done. As there were conflicts due to custom coding in the jsp files, I had to resolve those conflicts and check-in the merged code. While resolving the conflicts in the DC 'crm/isa/web/b2b' that comes under the SC 'SAP-SHRWEB', I found the '.dcdef' file also had version conflict. Although it is not recommended to change this file manually, I did a manual merge of the conflict code as it did not allow me to do 'Auto Merge'. It resulted in 'broken dc'.
Then, I have mistakenly checked out and marked the '.dcdef' file as 'Delete' and have checked in, activated the dc. As a result of this, the 'crm/isa/web/b2b' is no more available in the inactive workspace of NWDI (Development workspace). If I try to sync the 'crm/isa/web/b2b', I get the error message as given below:

I am looking for the best/quickest way to get a bunch of Java WARs deployed to NetWeaver. From what I am gathering, it appears that they may need to first be packaged as EARs? Then, I have read that NetWeaver Developer Studio can be used to deploy applications. Is this the preferred/quickest option? Are there alternative ways, such as through NetWeaver's administration console or via a Maven plugin?
I am trying to download NetWeaver Developer Studio, but it is proving difficult to find where to download it from on sap.com. If I go to http://www.sap.com/platform/netweaver/components/index.epx --> SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio this will take me to SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer, which doesn't seem to be right? Or is it? Can you please provide me with the correct location for a SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (preferably for Linux).
Also, as a follow on question, how or where can I configure NetWeaver to have a JNDI data source?
